Three main challenges in Macro photography

As interesting as this is, there are three major challenges that a photographer faces in Macro photography. The first major challenge is keeping the subject still. Macro photography is about small subjects, and keeping these tiny subjects still is a big problem sometimes. There are many digital photography tips that help you meet this challenge. The next challenge is camera shake. Owing to the nature of this type of photography, it is very important to keep the camera still. The obvious and best solution here is using a tripod stand, but because the subject is often tiny, a tripod stand is sometimes a hindrance while taking pictures. The next challenge is keeping the subject in the dark focus. But some easy macro photography tips can help you overcome these challenges.

A simple plastic cup can solve the three challenges that you face in macro photography. This macro photography tip was shared by photographer Joseph Linaschke. It explains how a frosted plastic cup is your easy and cheap solution to taking some great macro photos. The supplies you need are some plastic cups, scissors, some gaffer’s tape and your camera. You need to cut a hole simply in the bottom of the cup and make sure that the cup is just big enough to fit over your lens. In case the cup keeps coming off or cracks, you can use the gaffer’s tape. But this is just for convenience and is totally up to you. Once that is done, You can now start clicking pictures.

Once you are all set with your plastic cup and your camera, you can start with clicking pictures. Just set the cup on your subject and then start with the clicking. All three challenges get sorted with this macro photography tip. Since the subject is enclosed in the plastic cup, it doesn’t move. So now you don’t have to worry about losing your subject. The next challenge is shaking. You get extra stabilization due to the cup, and you can steer clear of the tripod. And for meeting the third challenge, this macro photography tip works because any harsh light which would have given problem now diffuses and softens. The only limitation that Linaschke points out is the lens size. So the larger the lens, larger the cup will have to be.shutterstock_83213812
